Day 4; Berlin

So this is the third attempt to write about today. It's being a little silly and rather annoyingly not saving what we write.

On our free tour (which was amazing by the way) we saw pretty much all of eastern Berlin in it's glory. Some o the sites include the Berlin wall, the holocaust memorial, hurlers bunker, churches, checkpoint Charlie and much more.

We also gained a crash course in both Berlin an Germany history, from the world wars to internal conflict and corruption.

At just after midway round the 4 hour tour we had lunch. 2 giant reman pretzels! With some borrowed jam and chocolate spread pots that we may have borrowed from the breakfast thus morning. Interesting array of toppings if nothing else. Either way, we both agree that it was the best 3.20 euros we'd spent all week.

After the tour was over we ventured out to 'museum island' where after 6pm on Thursdays, al museums had free admission. It can be cheap to be a tourist sometimes.

The vigorous walk around the exhibits left us totally drained, but none the less, the 'were only here once' phrase kept coming into conversation.

So with our day still burning on, we decided to queue for 2 hours to see the Herman parliamentary house (more like a bloody castle).

At the top we could see Berlin in all it's glory at night. Spectacular view.

At this point we'd like to add that it's around 10:45, and our feet are killing. After a short walk and a bus ride we reached our hostel. Around 11:40 now, were more than tired. Unfortunately, because of the rush through the day, we hadn't been able to book our next hostel, so that was in the menu till around 1:25am. Joy!

So now were beyond tired and have just got into bed.

Long journey tomorrow. We should arrive in Switzerland around 11pm.

See you there!
